The Mayor of London has announced his strategy for transport.

He has announced 12 new Low Emission Bus Zones, the nearest zone to our area runs from Brixton to Streatham. Bus services in these zones will be enhanced to ensure a high level of service for passengers while reducing the bus emissions caused by congestion.

Transport for London are proposing changes to the road layout, and amendments to single and double red line controls along the A22 Godstone Road from Foxley Hill Road to Old Barn Lane in the London Borough of Croydon. This section of Godstone Road forms part of the TLRN.

The proposals involve the introduction of new double red lines along some sections of the road. Where these are proposed, parking would no longer be possible.

The details and an online survey that you can use to have your say about this can be found here.

Biggin Hill Airport propose to install a new Instrument Approach Procedure (IAP) for aircraft approaching the airport to land from the south-west.

The qualifying age for obtaining a Freedom Pass now rises in line with the women’s pensionable age and will be 62 next year. To bridge this gap the Mayor Boris Johnson has announced that he will introduce a new 60+ Concessionary Travel Scheme using a variation of the Oyster card from 1st November 2012 for those people over 60 years of age who no longer qualify for a Freedom Pass.

The pass will have the same validity as a Freedom Pass in London except that it will not be valid buses outside London except for London routes such as 166, 403, 405, 407 and 466.

The pass is available on line for £10.00 from TfL at

The online application needs you to have a passport size photo to download.

From January 2015 there is a complete change to the prices and validity of Travelcards and the Peak and Off-peak Oyster card capping.
