Chichester Road
CROYDON CR0 5NQ
With support from local residents’ associations – including HADRA – DEMOC successfully campaigned for Croydon to be run by an Elected Mayor chosen directly by the people of Croydon.
On Thursday 5th May we get to choose who that Mayor will be.
DEMOC, like HADRA, is not aligned to any political party. This hustings event is a chance to hear five of the main candidates summarise their credentials and their plans for Croydon, as well as put your questions to them.
Which candidates are attending
Candidates have until 4pm on 5th April to submit their nomination forms, but those aligned to the main political parties have already been selected. DEMOC’s hustings event will be attended by the following candidates:
Conservative Party: Jason Perry
Green Party: Peter Underwood
Independent: Andrew Pelling
Labour Party: Val Shawcross
Liberal Democrats: Richard Howard
How to submit a question
Please submit your key issues for an incoming Mayor to DEMOC by 31st March at the latest, setting out one or possibly two that you consider to be most important. In framing your questions for the candidates, please be as brief and precise as possible. Questions to which only a “Yes” or “No” reply is sought are also welcome.
DEMOC will review all questions received and endeavour to cover as many as possible.
How to get there
If you plan to drive, there is a car park at the Church as well as plenty of street parking nearby.
St Matthew’s is a just over half a mile from East Croydon station (approximately a 13 minute walk). Two buses from East Croydon Station stop nearby – the 64 to New Addington and 433 to Addington Village.
