A22 Godstone Road Closure

The following information comes from Councillor Gayle Gander:

Update 20th July 2023

I’d like to thanks Riddlesdown Residents Association for working with Southern Rail and providing the following brief: Southern Railway have advised and to assist during these works and resulting road closure, that bus passengers for the 412 and 407, can on request between 9 pm and 5 am, ask for access from the Southern team, to use the Purley station subway, to go between the front and rear entrances (west and east side). This can be done by speaking to staff direct, or using the assistance call point. Southern also advise the disabled can use this route at all times, upon request to staff. When staff are not there, for example elsewhere on the station, the gates will be in the open position. The local Southern team will keep this under review […]

Planning Application No. 23/00442/HSE

Enlargement of the existing rear dormer to the main roof including recessed balcony.

18 May 2023

This planning application is to remove the unauthorised balcony to the rear dormer and construct a smaller balcony.

An enforcement notice was finally issued on 20/4/23 to remove the second floor (loft room) projecting platform from roof dormer and obscured glass screen, because the first floor and second floor terrace and screening would be detrimental to the amenities of the occupiers of 80 and 84 Hartley Down resulting in an unacceptable loss of privacy.

Planning Application 22/02324/CONR was finally refused on 5/5/23. In this application the householder had accepted that he must remove the balcony to the “loft floor” and install the metal balustrades in accordance with the planning consent. It is therefore very disappointing that he is now applying to have a smaller […]

  • Shuttle buses will operate on Saturdays and Sundays […]

Proposed changes to our Constitution

Let us take you on a journey back 30 years.  It’s 1993 and the new Ford Mondeo is about to go on sale for the first time. Our Prime Minister, John Major, is overseeing the completion of the Channel Tunnel, due to open next year, and Tim Berners-Lee is releasing his source code for the world’s first internet web-browser. Our beleaguered Secretary finds himself  hunched over his typewriter bashing away at the keys in time with Meatloaf’s “I’d do anything for Love” and a sheet of paper emerges, entitled “HADRA’s Constitution”.

This document has served us well over the past 30 years and continues to govern the way we operate today. However, designed in a largely pre-internet era, without today’s norms such as social media and WhatsApp, its becoming apparent to us today that it is necessary to give our […]

Construction of a rear roof extension with installation of 4 front and 2 roof lights to each side roof slope and associated alterations.

31 December 2022

This planning application has been submitted as a result of residents complaining to Planning Enforcement that following refusal on appeal for retrospective planning application No. 21/03937/HSE no corrective action has been taken. Planning enforcement case no 21/00066/NBI refers and remains open. Despite numerous requests, Planning Enforcement has failed to provide any updates. Residents have now been in correspondence with the Council on this matter for 2 years.

This submission is basically the same as […]

Details of this planning application can be seen on Croydon Council’s Public Access Register https://publicaccess3.croydon.gov.uk/online-applications/

Health Report

The New Coulsdon Medical Centre

As you may recall, it was proposed that the new Medical Centre was to be built adjacent to the CALAT site in Coulsdon. Unfortunately, the developer has decided to pause all NHS developments for an unspecified period while they review the financial viability of the schemes in the light of the recent financial turmoil. Funding is currently in place and the Health Authorities are exploring every avenue to make sure that they retain the funding and the medical centre is built for residents in the Coulsdon area.

Purley Hospital

Funding has been confirmed for additional diagnostics at Purley Hospital – see below for what the project will provide. This is fully funded – both equipment and staffing – for 3 years. We also show below the “wish list” which is not yet funded. An extension will be built at […]

Croydon Trading Standards – Community Alert

Cost of Living Scams

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute has issued a stark warning in regards to the number of scams appearing in relation to the cost of living crisis and wants to warn consumers about unwittingly engaging with scammers.

CTSI Lead Officer for Scams and Doorstep Crime, Katherine Hart, said, “There has been a huge surge in energy-efficiency scams offering rebates and offers to apply for grants. With the rise of costs in fuel bills and the cost-of-living concerns during the upcoming winter months, I urge the public to be on its guard because these types of emails and texts are attempts to scam.

“I also expect that scammers will target households in the coming weeks regarding the £150 Disability Cost of Living payment. Households don’t need to apply for the rebate as suppliers are automatically applying it to bills for six months […]
