Croydon Local Plan Review Consultation

The current Croydon Local Plan was published in 2018, but following the Council’s declaration of a Climate Emergency in July 2019, a partial review was launched.

During the first stage of the review, a period of consultation took place between November 2019 and January 2020, to gain feedback from the community. This was referred to as the ‘Issues and Options’ consultation.

Three strategic options were presented:

  • Option 1: described as ‘an environmental and economically sustainable option’, this required significant housing intensification throughout the borough.
  • Option 2: described as ‘an environmentally and socially sustainable option’, this consisted of a significant transformation of the Purley Way through major mixed-use redevelopment, alongside lower levels of intensification throughout the borough.
  • Option 3: described as ‘an economically and socially sustainable option’, this necessitated a limited release of green belt land.

Where are we now?

Following the initial public consultation, […]

Old Coulsdon Christmas Lights

Beautiful new Christmas lights have been illuminating Tudor Parade in Old Coulsdon since Saturday 27th November. The start of the festive season was celebrated with singing, mulled wine and visits to Father Christmas, as well as a wide array of stalls, all superbly organised by the Christmas Lights in Old Coulsdon Friends Group (CLOCFG).

The annual cost of the Christmas lights is entirely met by CLOCFG’s fundraising activities. Contact margaret@wraybank.co.uk if you’d like to make a donation of time or money to support this lovely community initiative. You can find out more on the CLOCFG Facebook page.

Christmas Light Hunt

If you have visited Tudor Parade in Old Coulsdon recently, you may have spotted that Sam from #samtmart has once again worked her magic on the local shop windows for the Pistachios Christmas Lights Hunt, which raises money for the CLOCFG (Christmas Lights of Old Coulsdon Friends Group).

The Hunt started at the end of November and is on-going until Christmas. If you want to get involved, pick up a hunt sheet from the following stores:

HADRA needs your help!

HADRA is run on an entirely voluntary basis by local residents, many of whom have been involved with HADRA for many years. As an organisation we’d like to do a lot more – particularly in light of the Council’s bankruptcy and the subsequent cuts in services – but we need more people to share the load. We’d also welcome any fresh ideas about what HADRA can do to protect or improve our local area. Perhaps you’d like to take part in community litter picking, or improve our green spaces…

So how can you help?

  1. Join our Committee! We meet once a month, currently on a Thursday evening at Coulsdon Manor Hotel. Please contact our Secretary if you’d like to know more.
  2. Become a HADRA Rep! We encourage our members to pay their subscriptions by standing order, so we no longer need Road Stewards to […]
