Health Report
The New Coulsdon Medical Centre
As you may recall, it was proposed that the new Medical Centre was to be built adjacent to the CALAT site in Coulsdon. Unfortunately, the developer has decided to pause all NHS developments for an unspecified period while they review the financial viability of the schemes in the light of the recent financial turmoil. Funding is currently in place and the Health Authorities are exploring every avenue to make sure that they retain the funding and the medical centre is built for residents in the Coulsdon area.
Purley Hospital
Funding has been confirmed for additional diagnostics at Purley Hospital – see below for what the project will provide. This is fully funded – both equipment and staffing – for 3 years. We also show below the “wish list” which is not yet funded. An extension will be built at […]

Croydon Trading Standards – Community Alert
Cost of Living Scams
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute has issued a stark warning in regards to the number of scams appearing in relation to the cost of living crisis and wants to warn consumers about unwittingly engaging with scammers.
CTSI Lead Officer for Scams and Doorstep Crime, Katherine Hart, said, “There has been a huge surge in energy-efficiency scams offering rebates and offers to apply for grants. With the rise of costs in fuel bills and the cost-of-living concerns during the upcoming winter months, I urge the public to be on its guard because these types of emails and texts are attempts to scam.
“I also expect that scammers will target households in the coming weeks regarding the £150 Disability Cost of Living payment. Households don’t need to apply for the rebate as suppliers are automatically applying it to bills for six months […]

Old Coulsdon Village Fair
The Village Fair, organised by Coulsdon Manor Rotary Club, took place at Grange Park on Saturday 2nd July 2022.
The Old Coulsdon Village Fair usually takes place the first Saturday in July. With COVID hitting us, we have sadly missed two years, but this year it was back! Although there were fewer stall holders than in normal years, the attendance by local people was greater and the weather was good as well.
HADRA have had a regular spot at the fair with a tombola stall which raises money for various charities, this year it was the Epilepsy Foundation.
We also have a quiz. This year’s was “WHEN THEY WERE YOUNG” showing photographs of film and pop stars when they were young. You can see all the answers below. The winner of the £40.00 Garden Voucher was Juliana Laidley of Coulsdon.
We also have some historic […]

May 2022
WARNING TO ALL ANIMAL OWNERS – We are reporting the shooting of a domestic animal
HADRA is extremely sad to report that on Tuesday May 24th between 20.00 and 21.30 a much-loved 1 year old cat was shot with an air gun in the Hartley area. She was very seriously injured, in a state of terror and shock and is currently in surgery. Sadly, it is most unlikely that she will survive this horrendous attack. The treatment is costing thousands of pounds.
She was wearing a GPS tracker on her collar, so the area of the attack can be seen precisely as being inside the allotments, near the driveway entrance on Stoats Nest Road. The vet has informed the owner that the bullets went in from a height, so there is also a slight possibility that she was shot from a window of one of the houses backing onto the allotments.
